CD release concert

Please join us for a CD release concert in London. We’ll be performing works from our newly released Abel CD in historic Belgravia, central London. All further information can be found at the FB event page and we’d be very happy if you could join us!

Who’s afraid of the Dark?

Well we aren’t… at least not of Dark Music Days. Rehearsals are underways for our appearance at the festival on Friday. We’d of course love it if you joined us at the brand new concert house Harpa in Iceland. Concert starts at 17.00 and on the program are works by Gunnar Andreas Kristinsson, María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir, Hafdís Bjarnadóttir and Hugi Guðmundsson. Their works seek inspiration in everything ranging from ringtones to music by Handel dissolved in water together with the weather forecast. See you in the dark!

Of women!

Nordic Affect was yesterday the lucky recipient of a grant from the Icelandic women’s cultural foundation Hlaðvarpinn. The purpose: to order a new composition from Þuríður Jónsdóttir and record an album with works by Icelandic female composers, namely Þuríður, Hafdís Bjarnadóttir and María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir!

Abel returns to the UK!

Abel had its first airplay in the UK yesterday on BBC Radio 3’s breakfast with Sara Mohr-Pietsch!

First review on Abel!

We received today the first review on our Abel CD on the Icelandic cultural program Víðsjá. You can listen to the whole review by following this link here. We’ve also already translated a few sentences from it… and so to quote music critic Helgi Jónsson:

“In short; this is a great CD!”

“…Georgia Browne is a great flutist, she has an incredibly beautiful sound…”

“…delightful music which is exceptionally well performed!”

Abel is out!

Our CD with works by the Carl Friedrich Abel has been released! All further information can be found at Brilliant Classics which we are extremely happy to be collaborating with. The disc itself is filled with works by this composer that we love, a guy who mesmerized people with his playing and compositions in the 18th Century!

Dark Music Days

27th of January at 17.00

NoA will be appearing at Dark Music Days in Iceland in January. We hope you join us in the dark and hopefully snowy Iceland. We’ll be performing works by Hugi Guðmundsson, María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir, Gunnar Andreas Kristinsson and Hafdís Bjarnadóttir.

New website

Hi dear all,

We in Nordic Affect decided that it was time for a new website. We hope that it’ll be up and running in no time to bring you some fun NoA news about concerts and our new Abel CD!

Happy New Year from all of us in Nordic Affect!
